This wonderful children's book based on a true story is available from Whangarei SPCA and Pet Essentials.
A children’s book about a family of abandoned kittens is helping to raise money for our centre.
Waipu woman Carol King has written and illustrated a book based on a true story in which someone abandons a litter of kittens at Urititi. The kittens try to cross the busy and dangerous State Highway 1 to get to Carol’s house.
The book, aimed at 5 to 12 year olds, helps to teach children about conservation and animal cruelty as well as understand the importance of caring for animals properly.
Carol, an artist, retired farmer, gardener and grandmother has generously decided to donate $1 from every copy sold to Whangarei SPCA.
The book is available for $20 from Pet Essentials in Okara Park and our centre on Kioreroa Road.
